Although life has not been the same since the COVID-19 pandemic began, rest assured that pharmacies provide essential services and pharmacist-owners affiliated with Accès pharma are always there to give you advice and answer your health questions.
Continuing operations and adapted services
In order to ensure the continuity of our services, teams at our 68 pharmacies are doing everything they can to protect the health of employees and clients. They are also asking you to help them minimize the risk of contamination so that they can make sure that services are maintained. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, stay at home and call the government hotline at 1-877-644-4545.
Here are some measures that are being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the pharmacy:
- Installing handwashing stations at the entrance of the pharmacy;
- Screening clients at the front door;
- Limiting the number of people inside the pharmacy;
- Installing physical barriers in places where clients and employees interact;
- Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces frequently;
- Having a stringent sanitation routine for all employees;
- Mandatory use of masks by all personnel and persons 10 years or older.
In keeping with public health guidelines, pharmacists are also encouraging you to limit your visits to the store and to call them if you need their advice or if you have questions about your health.
All Accès pharma-affiliated pharmacies offer home delivery and a fast track to the pharmacy for dropping off or picking up prescriptions. Plus, some pharmacies offer contact-free medication car pickup in the Accès pharma parking lot. Contact the team at your affiliated pharmacy to learn more about the services available in your area and delivery times.
New services from pharmacists
More than ever, pharmacists are working hard to help people during this exceptional time. In order to optimize patient services and minimize the number of medical consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Collège des médecins du Québec and the Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec have agreed to relax some of the rules around professional services provided by pharmacists under Bill 41.
Your pharmacist is now able to support you by:
- Extending prescriptions;
- Prescribing medication for minor conditions;
- Replacing an authorized medication if there is a shortage.
Some restrictions may apply. Please talk to your pharmacist.
If you need to stay at home, don’t worry. Pharmacies are offering home delivery. Contact your pharmacy for delivery times. For more information about this service, click here.
